Those of you that know me will know that I am not the world's biggest sports fan, but even I love the Olympics. And of course the Olympics has, over recent years, been lit up by the incredible achievements of Usain Bolt.
What I find amazing about the Olympics, and especially the hundred metres, is that for a little under ten seconds we are all glued to the action and that's all we see. However, for Bolt, and indeed every other athlete competing, those brief moments in the spotlight are simply the icing on the cake.
Four years of handwork, dedication, sacrifice and total commitment have gone in to achieving the goal. It's what people do behind closed doors, when the world isn't watching, that matters the most, because without that focus there is no public recognition, there is no gold medal.
We are all striving to achieve gold in our own rights, but in order to do so we must be prepared to apply ourselves every single day, we must be prepared to make the sacrifices when nobody is watching to be able to enjoy the recognition upon achieving our goals.
Behind every gold medal, behind every goal achieved, there is a story, a journey to the final destination. Make sure you're writing your own success story, and not just living through the glory of other people's.
