"Nothing will work unless you do." (Maya Angelou)
It comes as no surprise to me that the most successful people in the world, across every industry, are the ones who work the hardest. It just so happens that the very same people are the ones that most others believe have a special talent for what they do, or that they simply got lucky.
It reminds me of the iceberg illusion. People only see the end goal, we see the story but we don't know the story. We don’t see the dedication, hard work, persistence, discipline, disappointment, sacrifices, and many failures it takes to reach the top. And so we are quick to attribute success to luck or a natural talent.
Talent in any discipline or field comes about through hard work. In order to achieve great success, to be the best at anything in life, you need to be prepared to role your sleeves up and go to work, you need to be prepared to put in thousands of hours of work and commitment to reap the rewards.
There is no substitute for hard work in the world, so decide what it is that you're prepared to work for and get busy.
